Tennis Court Post Finishes

For longevity, all JB Corrie tennis court posts are galvanised or alternatively, galvanised and Polyester Powder Coated.

Tennis Court Post Finishes Solutions

Galvanising is an industrial treatment that protects steel from the ravages of the weather, slowing down the onset of rusting for many years to come.

After galvanising the steel sections can be Polyester Powder Coated to a standard RAL colour. The two most common colours within the fencing industry are Green RAL 6005 & Black RAL 9005

What is Polyester Powder Coating?

Over 15 years ago, JB Corrie stopped wet painting our tennis court fencing for several reasons. The first and most important, being the quality of finish. As a result, we now have our colour finish posts Polyester Powder Coated to BSEN 6497.

This coating is applied by electro-charging the galvanised steel materials which in turn attracts the sprayed Polyester Powder. This process means the coloured powder coats the posts and gates evenly and smoothly. The superior coated finish cannot be achieved by a paint brush.

The second reason we do not paint our posts is cost based on the labour intensive processes involved. The galvanised posts require etching with chemicals, which enable the paint to stick, followed by then washing the posts down and waiting for them to dry ahead of applying the paint finish. All of which will have to be done on a dry day or under cover.

It is a recognised fact in the industry that having the combination of a hot dipped galvanising and then applying a Polyester Powder Coated finish can ensure the finished product has a lifespan of over twenty years.

When requesting colours there needs to be uniformity. The RAL colour chart system is used in the powder coating industry for conformity. Using the RAL Chart, as well as other colour charts such as the Pantone, ensures that the powder coating colours are standardised. This approach means colours and service is kept consistent. Please note that there may be a surcharge for colours that are not commonly used.
