JB Corrie are proud to announce that we are sponsoring the Association of Fencing Industries (AFI) prestigious fencing award in honour of our beloved former Managing Director and Chairman Richard Corrie, who sadly passed away in 2020. We and the AFI agreed the Lifetime Contribution Award was the right one to reflect Richard’s seven decades of contribution and passion to continually improve industry standards.
The Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution award recognises an industry professional who has shown an outstanding contribution to the fencing sector in general and to organisations associated with fencing for more than 20 years.
Richard Corrie served the fencing industry for 70 years, including acting as Chairman on the Fencing Contractors Association (FCA) prior to it’s merging to the AFI. Taking over JB Corrie from his grandfather, who founded the company in the late nineteenth century, Richard Corrie was Chairman and had extensive knowledge of the industry, sitting on numerous committees to always support the fencing industry and drive standards higher.
Richard was hugely respected in the company both for what he had done and the way he had done it. He always behaved with the utmost integrity and came from an era when business could be done on a handshake, when a person’s word was their bond. Further details of Richard Corrie’s unparalleled career can be found within our end of an era article.
The Lifetime Contribution Award uses Richard’s name to highlight the work of others in fencing who have shown a lifetime’s dedication to developing the sector and ensuring it has the recognition it deserves.
Industry professionals who have shown a similar longstanding commitment to the sector, in general or to associated organisations for more than 20 years, will be recognised for their hard work and dedication. Nominations for this year’s Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution Award can be submitted on the AFI website.
