Green V Mesh
Recently we advised one of our regular contractor customers on a boundary solution. We supplied the fencing contractor with some our readily available green 1730mm high V mesh panel fencing to secure the property boundary. This JB Corrie fencing system is the perfect cost-effective solution for installing as a boundary fence. We also offer the same mesh system infilled with timber slats to act as a screen fence, significantly reducing the amount of through vision. For all your fence requirements contact JB Corrie today.
Tree Protection
Recently we were employed to carry out a fencing project in one of London’s Royal Parks. The client required a robust timber barrier around an ancient Oak tree in the vicinity of a children’s play area. This mighty Oak was suffering from compacted ground as a result of the constant footfall. The client requested a half-circle layout and we achieved this by installing a British Standard treated timber close boarded fence, with reduced post centres. The 1.8m high fencing includes a single leaf gate for maintenance and lawn-mower access. The fence has proved successful in guiding the park users away from the trees canopy, helping to prolong the life our national tree.
New Gates for London University
JB Corrie supplied and installed 2.4m high Black V Mesh panel fencing with matching gates as part of an ongoing refurbishment of the university perimeter boundary in London.
The gates were made to measure and manufactured at our Petersfield factory.
One double leaf vehicle gate is set at the end of a fenced corridor while the other set are fitted with emergency panic release bars to enable quick pedestrian egress in case of an emergency on site.
The gates, manufactured from mild steel have been hot dip galvanised and powder coated in Black RAL 9005.
The installation of the fencing and gates was carried out on site by our own highly skilled installers.
Fire Escape Security
Recently we were approached by a client to assist with an exit-entry security system. The sensitive site required a security fence to their fire escape stairs to allow safe panic release and maintain security. We visited site, surveyed, advised and quoted. The fencing and emergency exit gate were also required to restrict unauthorised access to the upper levels of the building. Our solution was to supply and install 3030mm high 8/6/8 twin bar mesh fencing with our own in-house manufactured support posts and gate set. The gate is fitted with a secure code-in gate release lock and an emergency shrouded push pad exit release.
Junior tennis players jump for joy at the installation of the clearplay practice wall at Shadwell Tennis Club
Yellow Powder Coated Crash Barriers
As part of a recent contract, JB Corrie supplied and installed to several locations, yellow powder coated Armco barrier. The owner of a high usage van and lorry park required strong barriers to protect high value assets. JB Corrie set the posts in concrete foundations and bolted the Armco beams in place, leaving the site in good order and with a very happy client.

JB Corrie Wind Farm Fencing

New Entrance to SEN School in Andover.
JB Corrie are proud of our recently completed fencing works to a school site in Andover. Originally tendered back in Spring 2022, we received an order from the main contractor for the works in November of that year. The overall project was to upgrade and redesign the tight main entrance to the school, with the safety of the staff and students of paramount importance.
As the layout was developed for both vehicle and pedestrian access, Corries worked closely with the main contractor and County appointed Landscape Architect, on the perimeter fencing to the front boundary, together with internal low level bow top railings to ensure safe passage to the school buildings. The vehicle access would be controlled by a low-level bow top double leaf entrance gates and a double leaf low-level bow top exit gate to a redefined centre island. Pedestrian access to both sides provided with single leaf gates to the new pathways.
The right-hand elevation to the entrance being secured with full height bow top railings, linked to a new timber boarded fence and internal access gate. Additional timber fencing was installed to secure storage areas, AC units and limit access to designated areas.
The steel fencing and gates were manufactured at our Petersfield based facility and after galvanising were polyester powder coated to a specific RAL colour as requested by the Landscape Architect. Being able to manufacture the steel railings and gates meant that not only were we able to comply with the specified design but we were able to control the whole process from order through to delivery to site. This was especially crucial as being a live site, there was only a small window of opportunity to carry out the installation package in late spring.
Corries fully trained install teams and our ability to liaise with designers, architects, contractors and clients led to another successful and high quality installation. One that we are pleased to show here.

Bow Top railing install in Crawley.
J B Corrie have recently completed the installation of a Bow Top railing fence in Crawley, West Sussex. A long-term main contractor client of ours, ordered these railings for us to supply and install outside a new Community Centre and adjacent carpark. The railings were a last-minute request but required completion within the existing programme. This task was made more difficult by the need for a bespoke design and layout. An immediate site survey was carried out and quotation prepared.
With the order received, Corries manufactured the steel bow top railings within our conveniently based fencing factory in Hampshire. The railings were fabricated in specific bespoke lengths and stepped heights to best suit the site layout and dimensions. Once fabricated and welded, the steelwork was hot dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and then Polyester Powder Coated black, RAL 9005, to BS EN 13438. These specifications ensure the railings have the longevity required.
With the railings delivered to Crawley, Corries carried out the on-site fencing works using our experienced, fully-trained and certificated installation teams. Upon completion of the project, Mr Rose, the main contractors Site Manager said “Thanks for getting this done quicker than anticipated and lovely working with Corries as always”

JB Corrie Bespoke Railings
When a local authority required replacement of their bespoke railings, they approached JB Corrie. We arranged to visit site, discussed the clients’ requirements and took precise measurements. A detailed quotation was sent, outlining the railing specification, which was duly ordered by the client. The railings were fabricated and welded in our extensive manufacturing facility located in Petersfield, Hampshire. After the manufacturing process, the railings were hot dipped galvanised and polyester powder coated white, RAL 9010, for longevity and aesthetics. JB Corrie manufacture fencing and railings and deliver throughout the country.

QAB Systems Colleague Wins Lifetime Award
A huge congratulations to Chris Johnstone from QAB Systems for winning the Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution award at this year’s AFI UK Fencing Industry Awards.
The Lifetime Contribution Award honours our late Managing Director and Chairman Richard Corrie’s name with its title, a fine reflection of Richard’s seven decades of contribution and passion to continually improve industry standards. The Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution award recognises an industry professional who has shown an outstanding contribution to the fencing sector in general and to organisations associated with fencing for more than 20 years.
Chris was chosen by the judging panel for his response to lifting issues of 358 Mesh with the invention of the QAB lifting bracket, providing fencing installers with LOLER compliant kit. Chris has invented several other QAB Brackets for a variety of access and lifting issues to make the job safer and easier.
Due to illness, Chris couldn’t be at Twickenham to accept his award but his colleague Gary (who nominated him) accepted the award from John Corrie on his behalf before delivering it up to Faslane!

Crane Improvements in JB Corrie Factory
JB Corrie & Co Ltd would like to give advance notice of extended manufactured lead times from Mid November/December due to some essential work to update the factory.
Our current overhead crane, installed in the mid-1970s, has been worked hard and it is time to replace this loyal servant. This will cause some disruption to the flow of material through the factory and while we will endeavour to work to minimise any issues, we feel it best to communicate this planned activity in advance.
If you believe your planned or forecast work may be affected, please do not hesitate to get in touch on 01730 237100, we will strive to make suitable arrangements around the completion schedule of the work.
JB Corrie Help Secure MOD Base with New Entrance Gates
As one of the UK’s most trusted security fencing manufacturers and installers for over 100 years, we recently received an enquiry to replace the existing heavy duty entrance gates at a secure MOD base.
Our team first visited the site to discuss the project requirement with the client, complete a site survey and gain the full specification in order to prepare an accurate quotation.
Our professional service, coupled with our competitive quote, led to JB Corrie securing the order.
Once secured, the next stage was for our skillful technical drawing office to produce CAD drawings for our MOD client’s approval. Upon approval, we proceeded to manufacture.
JB Corrie source locally wherever possible, reducing environmental impact and minimising the risk of supply chain issues. The gates and gate posts were fabricated and welded at our inhouse manufacturing facility based in Petersfield, Hampshire
Ordering from JB Corrie always provides value by our quality, attention to detail and techniques. This was applied to these gates with the steelwork being hot dipped galvanised for longevity.
The next stage of the process was to clad the frames in our gate workshop. To match the existing on-site fencing, we used galvanised 75 x 25mm welded mesh.
With all manufacturing stages completed and the final quality check passed, the gates and posts were delivered on our HIAB transport, ready for installation.
We work with you at every stage of the process, from scoping and planning, through to delivery and installation, to ensure that your new requirement meets your expectations.
Our professional team of experts are well placed to handle all enquiries. To find out how our Security team can assist with your enquiry, ring us on 01730 237100 or email sales@jbcorrie.co.uk

JB Corrie Launch a UK Tennis First – Clearplay, the glass practice wall
JB Corrie offer the Gallagher advanced perimeter security solutions founded on two core principles: deterrence and detection. The Gallagher system is reliant on high energy monitored pulses sent through strained fence wires, it’s high voltage but low amperage, a safe and legal system that offers a visible and physical line of defence so that when a breach is attempted it provides a deterrent to the attacker while alerting the site security stakeholders to a would be attack.
Gallagher Monitored Pulse Fence has been a staple of the JB Corrie High Security Product Portfolio since we became a dealer and installer in 1996. The JB Corrie installed Gallagher System has an enviable track record of success in the Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) sector for High Security defence to Industrial/Pharmaceutical facilities, MOD Establishments, Network Rail, National Grid, Reservoirs and Pumping Stations, Power Stations and the Utilities sector.
The flexibility of the Gallagher system specifications can provide an entry level high security system with a number of upgrade options to Government Approved systems aimed towards Very High Security and Anti Terrorism. The combination of CCTV and other intelligent PIDS systems allows the client to customise their security suite and ensure that their site is always in good virtual hands. Always alert, always ready for action, always deterring.
Over 25+ years as a Gallagher dealer and installer, JB Corrie has become one of the key UK providers for the product, offering a supply and install service. On a number of occasions since 1996, JB Corrie has been the largest dealer and installer for the year. In one year alone over 15km of Gallagher Fencing Product was procured through JB Corrie.
The security of our clients is of paramount importance and we are proud to support these highly important sectors. The many kilometres of Gallagher fence we have installed for the power generation sector for instance has ensured intruders are kept out, they avoid life threatening hazards and keep the lights on for industry and homes throughout the UK.

Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution Award
JB Corrie are proud to announce that we are sponsoring the Association of Fencing Industries (AFI) prestigious fencing award in honour of our beloved former Managing Director and Chairman Richard Corrie, who sadly passed away in 2020. We and the AFI agreed the Lifetime Contribution Award was the right one to reflect Richard’s seven decades of contribution and passion to continually improve industry standards.
The Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution award recognises an industry professional who has shown an outstanding contribution to the fencing sector in general and to organisations associated with fencing for more than 20 years.
Richard Corrie served the fencing industry for 70 years, including acting as Chairman on the Fencing Contractors Association (FCA) prior to it’s merging to the AFI. Taking over JB Corrie from his grandfather, who founded the company in the late nineteenth century, Richard Corrie was Chairman and had extensive knowledge of the industry, sitting on numerous committees to always support the fencing industry and drive standards higher.
Richard was hugely respected in the company both for what he had done and the way he had done it. He always behaved with the utmost integrity and came from an era when business could be done on a handshake, when a person’s word was their bond. Further details of Richard Corrie’s unparalleled career can be found within our end of an era article.
The Lifetime Contribution Award uses Richard’s name to highlight the work of others in fencing who have shown a lifetime’s dedication to developing the sector and ensuring it has the recognition it deserves.
Industry professionals who have shown a similar longstanding commitment to the sector, in general or to associated organisations for more than 20 years, will be recognised for their hard work and dedication. Nominations for this year’s Richard Corrie Lifetime Contribution Award can be submitted on the AFI website.
Happy New Year

COVID 19 statement 06 November 2020
Bringing Padel Tennis to the UK
Padel Tennis was first invented in 1915 by a Minister in New York who wanted to provide recreational activities for children in local neighbourhoods. Fast forward more than a century and it has become widespread in the US, it’s growing rapidly in Europe, and it’s starting to make its mark on the UK.
JB Corrie, Joseph Ash Galvanizing, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club are helping with the movement to make the sport more popular.
Padel Tennis is a game that resembles lawn tennis and squash. It is played on a smaller court to lawn tennis, with lower nets, and walls that the balls can be bounced off, in a similar way to squash. The racquets are solid without strings, and the tennis balls are depressurised.
It is a great sport for families and people wanting to newly engage in tennis as the ball can be kept in play for longer.
At present, there are only 72 Padel Courts in Britain, but the LTA is on a mission to help this number grow. They are doing this by providing sports club with £50,000 grants to build new Padel Courts, which is payable over a 10-year term.
Padel Court manufacturing
Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club in West Sussex have taken up the challenge and they will be installing their first Padel Courts in the next few months. JB Corrie is helping by manufacturing the courts. And Joseph Ash Galvanizing’s Medway plant (based in Sittingbourne) is helping by hot dip galvanizing and powder coating the steel.
JB Corrie has been in business for over 100 years providing specialist fencing installations and supplies. We have a wealth of experience in designing and fabricating fencing for all types of venue, including sports facilities. We also have a strong interest in the Padel Tennis movement, and a long relationship with the LTA, which makes us the perfect fit for this job.
JB Corrie provides high levels of quality and we meet all the necessary fencing industry standards such as ISO 9001:2008 and UVDB Verification. This strong adherence to industry standards is an important consideration for LTA specified projects. Corrie Padel is hot dip galvanised to BSEN ISO 1461:2009 and power coated in a range of over 300 standard RAL colours to BSEN 13438.
We also supply 12mm toughened glass to BSEN 12150 with an option for heat soaking, as well as printing options for club logos.
We are currently manufacturing the fences and will be delivering them to Joseph Ash Galvanizing in the week beginning 3 August. (Watch this video to see a plan of the fences.) The team at Joseph Ash Medway will then spend a few weeks hot dip galvanizing and powder coating the steel ready for it to be delivered to Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club and installed on their grounds.
Hot dip galvanizing is important because it provides a long-life, low-maintenance corrosion protection which safeguards steel from atmospheric attack, especially in coastal counties such West Sussex.
The final powder coating finish further protects the steel with a low maintenance, long lasting, colourful covering and adds an attractive final finish.
The ball is in!
Once full COVID restrictions are lifted, Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club will be hosting an open day to launch the new courts. They will also be inviting some international Padel Court champions to the Club to showcase the sport.
We hope this effort, combined with the efforts of the LTA, JB Corrie and Joseph Ash, will help to grow the amount of people interested in the sport.
Keep tabs on the project
Keep checking our website over the next few months to monitor progress on this project.
Please keep up with our social media too (links below) to see photos and videos of the fencing for the courts as they are manufactured, galvanized and installed.
If your tennis or fitness club is thinking of installing Padel Courts, please also get in touch with JB Corrie, as we’d love to help with the process.

JB Corrie – Dropper Fencing
A picture of the J B Corrie Dropper fence printed in The Telegraph 05/12/17, if you look closely you can also see the Queen in the background
JB Corrie Corstag Dropper fencing is one of the first fencing systems JB Corrie ever produced. The patented dropper design allows the fencing support and straining post centres to be extended. These increased post centres mean the quantity of posts that are required are reduced. This in turn brings down the cost, making Corrie dropper fencing one of the most cost effective fencing systems to date. Corrie Corstag Dropper fencing consists of multiple high tensile line wires braced with Corrie Corstag Dropper bars. This style of fencing has proven very popular with many applications including carriage and motor ways, railway infrastructure, the great parks, farm/cattle fencing, deer parks and animal parks.
